I had lunch there today for the first time. The food was awesome. I got Mac and cheese and the chicken sandwich. Then I found out the purpose/mission of the place and I really feel in love with it.

Highly recommend you try this restaurant. Great food, great service, and great ambiance. I'd describe it as modern southern food. I had the baked oysters to start and I slurped every last drop out of the shells. Then had the shrimp and grits with a side of collard greens. I couldn't have been more satisfied. The sauce was smokey and slightly spicy poured over the grits, the shrimp were nicely cooked, and the portion size was impressive. The collards were tender and flavorful. If I had 1 slightly negative thing to say, a few more shrimp would have been nice. If I lived in Charlotte, I'd be back!

This restaurant is definitely a spot to try for a laid back, yet tasty southern cuisine dining experience. Had a reservation for a decent sized party and was seated promptly (sadly this is a plus in the current times of dining services). The staff was accommodating and very courteous as the remaining guests trickled in for our party. The setting of the venue was very calm yet nice enough to host almost any event you could think of having there, as the large windows on the perimeter of the site allow the backdrop of Uptown Charlotte as scenery for your meal. We did run into an issue with our seating area, which the manager on duty did provide us recompense for the inconvenience and assured us that it was not a common issue there. All in all, the place is worth a shot for a nice dinner if you're in the area!

Decided to try a new place for our pregame meal and I have had King's Kitchen on my list for a long time. It was only a block or 2 off our beaten path so we decided to give it a try. Great decision and we should have tried it sooner to be honest. We kept it simple and took the suggestion from our server and we both got fried chicken- Brody got the dark meat and I got the white. Sides are al a cart so we got fries to share. The chicken came out fast and was steaming hot. Ever since the Chicken Coup shut down I have struggled to find good fried chicken. I struggle no more! The chicken was crispy, juicy and cooked to perfection. The fries were hand cut and crispy. They didn't need ketchup but they were served with it, none the less. This meal was tasty and the perfect portion size for a pregame meal. I highly recommend King's Kitchen for a tasty fried chicken. I will give it another go and try additional menu options next trip. I liked the layout of the bar and dining area and 2 separate managers came by to check on us during our short meal. Seems to be a place that takes pride in the quality of their food and the satisfaction of its customers. All the good things I heard about Kings Kitchen was backed up on this visit.

I greatly enjoyed my experience here and would go back again in a heartbeat if I lived in Charlotte. This was a last minute find so we were not well aware of the menu items, but were interested in having some fried chicken. The hostess was on her phone and continued watching a video while she asked us where we wanted to sit. Pretty poor service in that regard but that's the only negative thing to say about my experience. The food was phenomenal. We started with biscuits and cornbread which comes with butter and jam. Honestly, the biscuits looked undercooked but they were perfect - a crispy exterior and a soft interior. The cornbread was great, too. We ordered the fried chicken that we came there for plus the "Southern Classic" which includes three sides that are in small portions for a single diner versus ordering from the sides menu where the portions are larger and share-able. The breading on the chicken was crispy and well seasoned. The larger piece of chicken was a little dry in the center, but all is forgiven because all three of my sides were fantastic. I had collards, mac and cheese, and rice and peas. The collards are cooked with bacon and tasted great, the mac and cheese was pretty decent, and the rice and peas had good flavor. After finishing our main meals, we agreed that although we normally don't get dessert, this place would be worth trying a dessert at. I had the banana pudding which was beautifully smooth and creamy with fresh slices of banana in it. On top of the fantastic food, this restaurant does a lot of great work for the community: hiring ex-convicts, hosting bible studies and GED classes, and more. With all of this extra non-profit work, I would have guessed that there were sacrifices when it came to the food. But it was stupendous. Highly recommend.

I visited King's Kitchen on a Thursday evening. The space was nice and inviting. There was no wait and plenty of seating available. I tried the Moscow mule which was good and had a perfect amount of alcohol in it. I only needed one drink. I enjoyed the food and the experience. I thought the chicken dinner was well priced. The crab and spinach dip app was tasty but I didn't feel like I could actually taste the crab. Our server was nice but she did take our unfinished app without asking. I would definitely return and try other menu items.

The Kings Kitchen was a good experience, for what it is. I want to acknowledge the service that it is giving to the community, but also to set expectations. The Kings Kitchen is an excellent concept that gives back to the community by training people from marginalized communities and giving all of their proceeds back into the community, as a nonprofit establishment. They are training people from front of house to back of house to chefs on how to be successful in the business. We started with the deviled eggs followed by the fried chicken with three sides.. I would say the food is on par with your grandmother's cooking. A nice home-cooked meal, that has been well seasoned. However, the food is cooked in batches, more like cafeteria style, although it served restaurant style. Therefore, things like fried chicken and mashed potatoes come out a little drier and colder than you would expect. As I mentioned, they are very well seasoned, they've just been under a heating lamp for a while, and I suspect that if you come at the right time of day, they could be perfectly fresh. The servers were exemplary, very down to earth. They went above and beyond to try to meet all of our needs and expectations. When a concern was raised about a piece of chicken, that was extremely dry, the manager came over to resolve the problem, and was quite honest in letting us know that all of the chicken was going to be very similar. The macaroni and cheese, was to die for! I loved it. The greens also were pretty good, especially if you like a little vinegar in your greens. I was a bit confused by the brown sugar, chipotle, salsa on top of the smoked sweet potatoes, I probably would not order those again. Overall this was a good meal, and I would recommend that others try the Kings kitchen out. I will definitely go back, but it may not be a date night destination.

Had a wonderful meal here, with fantastic service from Ingrid! The foundation of what this restaurant stands for and is committed to made it an obvious choice for supper. We wanted southern food and the cost of our meal helps others ... no brainer! Super cool minimalist vibe meets great food. We ordered fried green tomatoes, chicken pot pie, squash casserole and fried catfish dinner. Everything was scrumptious... particularly the end note of coconut cake. I absolutely LOVE this restaurant concept of giving back!
